Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte is left contemplating his long-term future in football management after losing three close friends in the recent past. Prior to the passing of Conte’s buddy and former Lazio defender Sinisa Mihajlovic in December, the club’s fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone passed away in October. Gianluca Vialli, a former teammate of Conte’s from Juventus and Italy, passed away earlier this month, which came after that. Conte, who is 53, is only five years older than Vialli and the same age as Mihajlovic when he passed away.
“Without a doubt, this season is challenging from a personal perspective. due to the sudden deaths of three people, I knew well: Gian Piero Ventrone before, Sinisa after, and now Gianluca. It wasn’t easy,” Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte said. “You will undoubtedly contemplate key things when this event occurs. We frequently overlook the importance of our families because we place so much emphasis on our work and disregard the need for personal leisure. From a personal perspective, this season has been challenging for me. Undoubtedly, this season has caused me to look critically at my future.”
“When you are working and the task is first in your thoughts, you might, absolutely might, sometimes neglect to spend time with your family and friends,” he added. “But because this is our passion, we have sacrificed a lot. When this occurs, I believe you begin to consider whether it would occasionally be beneficial to devote more time to your family, friends, and both yourself and them. Life is more than just work. You can tell me I’m not a good coach, but no club has ever complained about the dedication and support I provide to the one where I work.”
