During Graham Potter’s tenure as Brighton’s head coach in February 2021, Brighton paid £5 million to acquire Caicedo from Independiente del Valle.

He played in 14 league games last year but has not played at all this year. Bakayoko is believed to be dissatisfied and seeking a different challenge. The Premier League is being considered by his agents. In 2024, the midfielder’s Chelsea contract expires.
