Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is pushing the boundaries of the Premier League after notching yet another hattrick in the Manchester Derby this past weekend. Erling Haaland’s participation is the only thing that matters right now for Manchester City. Because he succeeds when he does. With his thumping of Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, the Norwegian became the first player in Premier League history to score hat tricks in three successive home games.
In the first eight Premier League games of the season, he has scored twice as many goals as any other player—more than 14 clubs combined. Approximately one goal is scored by Harry Kane per game for Spurs, but he is losing sight of Haaland in the wing mirrors. To equal the number that earned Mohamed Salah and Heung-Min Son the Golden Boot last season, Haaland simply needs to score nine more goals in the remaining 30 games of the season.
At his current rate, he will complete it before the end of October. Salah’s 32-goal Premier League record will be broken in the first few weeks of January, accounting for the six-week World Cup break. At the conclusion of the current season, he will have scored 71 goals. Of course, expecting him to continue in this manner until then would be ridiculous, but it is clearly clear that he is extending the boundaries of what is practical in this industry.
Erling Haaland has scored more hat-tricks for Manchester City in eight Premier League games than Cristiano Ronaldo, Jamie Vardy, and Frank Lampard combined in 232, 277, and 609 games, respectively. As with his earlier efforts against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, Haaland inflicted the brunt of the damage in a brief but devastating period of time on Sunday, and Manchester United had absolutely no response. He scored his first goal in the 34th minute with a forceful header from a Kevin De Bruyne corner that crossed the goal line before Tyrell Malacia could clear it. Three minutes or less later, he added a second.
