Julian Nagelsmann is interested in managing Chelsea and Tottenham in the Premier League. After being fired by Bayern Munich, the 35-year-old prefers to take a brief break before starting a new position, and he likes to oversee a full pre-season. His agency, Sports360, will, however, be open to offers and has already received inquiries from Chelsea, who fired Graham Potter on Sunday, and Tottenham. Further official communication is expected, and an agreement concluded in the coming weeks that takes effect only next season is not ruled out. It is claimed that the complicated issue surrounding Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici has put Tottenham on the back foot, with Chelsea currently having the upper hand.
No possible suitors have yet contacted Bayern about remuneration, which is only expected once Nagelsmann has decided on his future employers. The growing demand for German services provides a strong negotiation position as well as the time and space to make a decision. Through player trade and personal ties, Sports360 representatives are well acquainted with the recruitment decision-makers at both Chelsea and Tottenham. At RB Leipzig, Nagelsmann collaborated with Chelsea’s sporting director Laurence Stewart and technical director Christopher Vivell. They feel his track record of developing young players, as well as his European experience and work with famous names, distinguishes him as a candidate for Chelsea’s roster.
The club worked with his agency to sell another of their players, Timo Werner. Chelsea will evaluate up to seven applicants, including Nagelsmann, in what they claim will be a “exhaustive process.” Internally, Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, Ruben Amorim, Oliver Glasner, and Luciano Spalletti are among those being considered. Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, on the other hand, is not understood to be on the list. Chelsea has not set a timeline for making the appointment. Nevertheless, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has already communicated with Nagelsmann’s team about players – and the manager himself. He tried twice in vain to appoint the Bundesliga winner. Nagelsmann began conducting interviews in English four years ago in preparation for a Premier League debut.
