Julian Nagelsmann is open to Tottenham talks after he was sacked as the head coach of Bayern Munich. Tottenham is interested in Julian Nagelsmann following his dismissal by Bayern Munich, as well as the uncertainty surrounding Antonio Conte’s future during this international break and with his contract set to expire in the summer. Naglesmann’s replacement at Bayern by Thomas Tuchel has opened the door for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to approach a manager he has long liked. When Levy fired Mauricio Pochettino and replaced him with Jose Mourinho in 2019, the 35-year-old was on his radar. They also tried unsuccessfully in 2021 to replace Mourinho with the German, soon before he joined Bayern.
Nagelsmann, who may want time away following his dismissal, has long been interested in what is going on at Tottenham. Spurs have been conducting due diligence on a number of potential managers for some weeks due to the uncertainty surrounding Conte’s future after his contract expires in June. But, following his angry rant over his players last weekend, they may speed up efforts to replace him if the right guy expresses interest.
Marco Silva, Roberto De Zerbi, Sergio Conceicao, and Thomas Frank are among the other player’s Levy has long admired, while Vincent Kompany has emerged as a credible name following his impact in one season at Burnley. Conte extending his contract and attempting to shepherd the squad into fourth place is still an option, given the manager is still in Italy with his family following the Southampton debacle.
Meanwhile, Kolo Toure revealed that he holds no grudges after he was sacked as the manager of Wigan.
“Joining Wigan was a fantastic experience for me. Of course, it was a difficult assignment with the squad fighting for relegation, but I enjoy a good challenge,” Toure said. “The plan was to switch up the style of play and try to stay on top. Changing the training technique takes time, and altering the system was also hard for the players. We tried to modify a lot of things throughout my tenure, but it didn’t succeed. We lost a few games and drew a few others.”
