Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy believes that the club can win a trophy with Harry Kane as captain. With only one year remaining on his contract and rumors of a summer transfer to Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain, Kane has excelled during a difficult season at Tottenham with 23 Premier League goals, second only to Erling Haaland. The 29-year-old has played for Tottenham his entire professional career and is the club’s all-time leading scorer, but he has yet to take home a medal. Spurs last won a trophy in 2008, when they won the League Cup, which was 15 years ago.
“At Spurs, [Kane] can definitely bring home a trophy. Being a legend, though, is equally significant. He is writing history as Tottenham Hotspur’s leading scorer. I hope that one day a statue of Harry Kane will stand outside of our stadium,” Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said. “Am I satisfied that we have only received one prize during the past 15 years? Without a doubt. However, I also believe that we’ve experienced some amazing moments and have played in the Champions League frequently. Even though I’m sickened by the thought of Arsenal, another north London team, being somewhat higher than us right now, if I think back over the last five years, we’ve also been above them, so it is what it is.”
“Tottenham was a team that has a rich history because it has achieved success in the past. It hasn’t been where it needs to be lately. We’re on a mission, and we need to improve our performance on the field,” he added. “It’s been a very amazing journey. Tottenham has advanced significantly during the past 22 years. Not as much as we would have hoped as fans, but hopefully the adventure continues and we still win the title. It is about winning, but winning can mean different things to different people at different times depending on the context in which you ask that question. We had a meeting with all of our staff a couple of weeks ago. We have about 750 employees in Tottenham.”
