Arsenal Women captain Kim Little has been ruled out for the season after suffering a hamstring injury. On March 29, the 32-year-old former Scotland international was pulled off 12 minutes into Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich. Little played a key role in Arsenal’s League Cup victory against Chelsea on March 5, but the Gunners will be without the offensive midfielder as they pursue WSL and Champions League honors before the end of the season.
“Kim Little will miss the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury, we can confirm,” Arsenal Women said in a statement. “Kim suffered the injury in our UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final triumph over Bayern Munich on March 29, and testing has revealed that she will be out for the rest of the season. Our captain has already begun her recuperation, and things are going nicely. We anticipate that she will be available to begin preparations for the 2023/24 season. Kim will be regularly monitored by our medical experts in the coming months, and we hope to see her back on the pitch soon.”
Arsenal are chasing their first WSL title since 2019, and important attackers Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema have both been injured for much of the season. They presently sit third in the table, three points behind leaders Manchester United, whom they will meet on Wednesday in what could be a pivotal match in determining the league title. Arsenal is also in the Champions League semi-finals, where they will face Wolfsburg, hoping to reach their first European final since their 2007 triumph.
