According to AS, Naby Keita needs to abandon Liverpool for Atletico Madrid. The midfielder’s agent approached the Spanish club with a bid, but he is not on their list of goals, so a contract is impossible.
Naby Keita wants to join Atletico Madrid this summer after leaving Liverpool. Since his arrival on Merseyside in July 2018, Keita, 26, has struggled to maintain a regular first-team spot.
Jurgen Klopp benched the Guinea international after Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in April, and he has not featured since, missing out on the matchday roster in Liverpool’s last four games due to injury.
According to reports, the former RB Leipzig star does not agree with Klopp and is searching for a way out of the club, offering himself to Atletico Madrid. Although Diego Simeone’s side is expected to be in the search for a new midfielder, according to the article, the La Liga leaders aren’t sure he is the best choice for them.
Keita has also been linked with Leicester City and Crystal Palace in recent weeks. In recent weeks, Fabinho, Thiago, and Georginio Wijnaldum have formed Klopp’s usual midfield three. The German maintained Keita remained in his plans while speaking at the start of the month.
‘I have to admit, Naby is training pretty well right now,’ Klopp said.
‘He, like a lot of other athletes, works hard and looks great in the gym. This year, however, we need consistency. We’ll make improvements from time to time. It’s not like we’re going to take seven, eight, or nine players and think. Maybe we should win it this way. From my perspective, Naby Keita’s long-term future is here, indeed.’
