Manchester United are set to move their focus onto other targets after they had a third bid rejected for midfielder Mason Mount. After Chelsea rejected it on Friday night, they are still considering their most recent offer for Mount, which is worth £55 million. United is still interested in many players, including Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, a midfielder. Chelsea has countered presented United with a price of £58 million plus £7 million in add-ons in exchange for Mount and offered to meet in person in an effort to strike a fair arrangement. There is reportedly interest in joining Erik ten Hag’s side from England international Mount, whose Stamford Bridge contract has one year remaining on it. It was predicted that after presenting their third bid, United will abandon their initial goal of £55 million in favor of other ones.
The fact that Manchester United would talk to Chelsea for Mason Mount if they had a favorable response was also widely known. United must now decide whether or not that response persuaded them to go back to the negotiating table and pursue other goals. United is prohibited by Financial Fair Play restrictions from investing a considerable amount of its funds in a single player, especially given that they have other areas they desire to strengthen. As a result, they are taking into account a number of additional midfield options. The prospect of player sales, however, would increase their spending power.
David De Gea’s future with Manchester United is still up in the air at the moment. At the end of the month, De Gea’s contract expires, and a new arrangement with Old Trafford has not yet been authorized. The Spanish custodian was on the list of persons who were released by United. What is known indicates that “discussions remain open” while the club and De Gea consider their options. Regardless of whether De Gea stays at the club, United is looking at other keepers, such as David Raya of Brentford, Andre Onana of Inter Milan, and Diogo Costa of Porto. Manager Erik Ten Hag frequently expressed his support for De Gea throughout the previous campaign, but he gave no assurances that he would continue.
