Chelsea forward Kai Havertz is set to have his Arsenal medical this weekend before his move to the other side of London. Due to the player’s schedule, Havertz’s physical will probably be performed overseas, and if all goes according to plan, an official announcement of his £65 million transfer might occur next week. Given that Havertz has made it obvious he wants to leave Stamford Bridge, Chelsea is said to be pleased with the agreement. It marks the end of new Arsenal player Kai Havertz and his three-year stay with Chelsea, where he made club history by scoring the goal that gave them their second Champions League championship in 2021. Chelsea spent £75 million to acquire Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, but after a lackluster year, they were hoping to reclaim a sizable amount of their investment.
The mooted trade to Arsenal would help the Blues raise much-needed finances while also bolstering and expanding Mikel Arteta’s offensive options as the Gunners look to improve on last season’s second-place Premier League result. West Ham and Arsenal are still in contact with the signing of Rice. Following the rejection of their club-record £90 million offer, it is anticipated that they would submit a third proposal. The West Ham captain is being acquired by Manchester City. They are willing to give Rice £75 million plus £15 million in bonuses spread over two years. Although there hasn’t been an official offer yet, Juventus may be interested in Thomas Partey and he might possibly be moving. Before approving any departures, Arsenal requires some degree of assurance over the newcomers.
“Arsenal’s top objective is Rice. He is the one that Edu and Arteta have determined is capable of advancing this Arsenal squad via the center of the field. You always want to get a deal, but this seemed like a transaction worth at least £100 million,” Mark McAdam said. “West Ham had offered Rice significant contracts, but Rice preferred to wait and see how events evolved and what chances presented themselves. His competence is undeniable. With Jordan Henderson, he played as a double pivot and put up outstanding performances for England. Everyone will look at West Ham and believe that he deserves the chance to play at the top level, therefore he will go with their support.”
