Chelsea is in talks with Villareal for the signing of Nicolas Jackson. Chelsea is rumored to be willing to satisfy the €35 million (£29.8 million) release clause, with conversations focusing on the payment schedule and performance-based incentives. Informal discussions with Jackson’s agents have gone well, and if and when a deal can be reached, personal terms shouldn’t be a concern. Chelsea is considering a variety of forwards, including Nicolas Jackson. In January, the 21-year-old came very close to signing with Bournemouth, but a hamstring injury prevented the transfer.
Mason Mount’s first-round offer from Manchester United has been “immediately rejected” by Chelsea. The deal is reportedly worth £40 million. United is aware of its price range and is aware that there is a significant disparity in appraisals. United is considering a number of other players and is ready to back out of any agreement. There is a growing perception that Mount, who has one year left on his Stamford Bridge deal, wants to leave the club.
As the 24-year-old enters the last year of his current contract, United has a price in mind for the Chelsea academy alumnus and will not overspend for him. If the transfer is unsuccessful, the team has alternative options, including Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, who has long been a goal for United. They reportedly requested to be “kept informed” of any changes affecting the 21-year-old’s future.
