Everton completed the signing of Ashley Young after his Aston Villa contract expired. The 38-year-old England international is now a member of the Everton team after agreeing to a one-year contract at Goodison Park. Young rejected offers from the Premier League, Championship, and Europe in favor of Everton after his contract with Villa expired at the end of the previous season. Having previously collaborated with Everton manager Sean Dyche at Watford, the former Manchester United full-back claims that Dyche’s influence on his choice to join the club was significant.
“I’m thrilled to have joined this illustrious club and to play for Everton. I’m eager for the new season to begin because hearing the fervent supporters behind me as I enter Goodison Park will be an incredible sensation,” Ashley Young said after completing his move to Everton. “The management had a crucial role in my signing. I am familiar with him and am aware of his intensity and desire. His integrity will put in a lot of effort, and his competitiveness is unmatched. Even while I am aware that Everton’s recent campaigns haven’t exactly been successful, I made my pick mostly based on the manager’s desire after chatting with him and learning about his plans to turn the team around.”
The struggles of Everton seem to have no end in sight. Unrest on the board, money problems, a previous manager’s legal battle, and more. However, the most recent club announcement of the appointment of an interim board of directors and news out of New York on a business filing by potential investors MSP Sports Capital, which affirmed investment of £130 million, may indicate that there is some light at the end of a very long tunnel.
The present board has been urged for removal by supporters for a time. While the departures of the CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale, the financial director Grant Ingles, and the non-executive board member Graeme Sharp fulfilled 75 percent of that request, the chairman Bill Kenwright has undoubtedly received the most attention. Many of his supporters have expressed concerns that nothing has changed or will change as a result of the announcement that he will remain in his position during a transitional period.
