Real Madrid will host Manchester City in the first semi-final of the Champions League. Last season, City won the first leg 4-3 at the Etihad Stadium, and when Riyad Mahrez increased their aggregate advantage at the Bernabeu, they were only seconds away from making it to the championship game. But Real came back in the very last minute, forcing extra time with two improbable goals, then winning in the extra 30 minutes to crush City’s hearts. Later, Los Blancos won their 14th European championship. Their path to the last four this year has already been very similar to last year’s, having eliminated Chelsea in each of their quarterfinal meetings with City.
Ferland Mendy is still injured and Eder Militao is suspended after receiving a caution in each leg of the quarterfinal match against Chelsea. Nathan Ake’s hamstring injury is a setback for City since he has enjoyed a fantastic season. Cole Palmer, a young player, is the only other absent participant.
Manchester City has won 15 of their last 16 games in all competitions, so there is little doubt that they are in considerably better shape than their opponent. Real has battled with consistency lately, as they haven’t had more than three straight victories in any tournament since February, despite winning the Copa del Rey championship in their most recent match. Nevertheless, Real has repeatedly demonstrated their ability to turn it on in Europe, as seen by their success against Liverpool and Chelsea in earlier rounds in 2022–2023 and throughout last season. Additionally, Manchester City has a significant advantage at home against Real Madrid in the Champions League and has lost both of their previous round of 16 matches against RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid vs Man City score prediction: 2-2
