Juventus have held preliminary talks with Chelsea for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku’s return to the San Siro on a permanent basis is something Inter Milan has made plain they desire, and they want to make Chelsea a bid of £35 million for the Belgian international. They reportedly need cash from prospective sales to pay for a deal and continue negotiations with Manchester United on the signing of custodian Andre Onana. Although Lukaku wants to stay in Italy, it’s not certain if Inter has the resources to satisfy Chelsea’s demands.
In exchange for a long-term contract with Inter, the striker is prepared to accept a wage cut. Due to his desire to stay at the Serie A club, he would incur a financial blow of around £1 million year. The 30-year-old, who transferred from Inter to Chelsea for £97.5 million in August 2021, is still coveted by Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. Lukaku, a striker who has been overlooked by Chelsea, is expected to report for preseason next week, according to Mauricio Pochettino. Lukaku spent the previous season on loan at Inter after being dropped by Chelsea as a result of a contentious interview in which he claimed he was unhappy playing under the club’s former manager Thomas Tuchel.
“Romelu Lukaku must return on July 12 and 13 in order to join the team for the start of preseason,” Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino said amid Juventus links. “All of the players that arrive come to my office to introduce themselves as their first action. If he’s still a player for Chelsea, that’s what I anticipate.”
Christian Pulisic, a forward for Chelsea, has been signed by AC Milan for a reported sum of €22 million. The seven-time European champions have granted Pulisic permission to undergo a medical exam and agree to personal terms. Additionally, Chelsea has agreed to a sizeable sell-on portion for any future transfers.
