A significant factor in the Premier League team’s remarkable history, which includes two Champions League trophies and six Premier League crowns, is the excellent goal scorers that Chelsea have had. The Blues are one of the top teams in the nation, and its supporters have high expectations, but their 2022/23 team now appears to be without this important striker they used to have on a regular basis. Find the list of the Top 10 Chelsea Goalscorers Of All Time below.
10: George Hilsdon – 108 goals
For his tenure with the team, George Hilsdon is without a doubt a Blues icon. He succeeded in scoring 108 goals. The Chelsea centre-forward was fantastic on the ball, charging at defenders, and was a tremendous outlet for the team. He also set a club record by scoring six goals in a single game, helping us start of our list of the Top 10 Chelsea Goalscorers Of All Time
9: Eden Hazard – 110 Goals
Hazard may have been more recognized for his creative talents, but his twinkle toes proved to be just as effective at finding the back of the goal. His 110 goals overall and amazing 85 goals in the Premier League over his seven years as a Blue are the ninth-highest totals in our history.
A few of his unforgettable moments include his devastating hat-trick performance against Newcastle United, clinching the 2015 Premier League title by heading in the rebound of his saved penalty against Crystal Palace, his thrilling equalizer against Tottenham to deny them the title the following season, and majestic solo goals against Liverpool and Arsenal.
8: George Mills – 125 Goals
While playing with the Blues, George Mills scored an incredible 125 goals, becoming the only player in club history to reach that mark. The fact that the Englishman scored these goals in only 239 games makes his accomplishments even more remarkable. He spent his whole playing career at Chelsea.
7: Jimmy Greaves – 132 Goals
Many Chelsea supporters would be familiar with the name Jimmy Greaves. With 132 goals in just 169 games, the prolific goal scorer has the highest goal-to-game ratio of any player on this list. He managed to score 22 goals in the first season, 37 the next, then 30 the next season, and ultimately 43 the fourth. He also recorded an incredible 13 hat tricks.
6: Peter Osgood – 150 Goals
Forward Peter Osgood is another cult favourite of Chelsea fans. In the 1960s and 1970s, the English managed to score 150 goals. Osgood is renowned for scoring in each of the 1970 FA Cup rounds. Because the club holds such loving memories of him, a monument of him was erected outside the West Stand and will remain there always.
5: Roy Bentley – 150 Goals
The first Chelsea captain to lead Chelsea to the League Championship was Roy Bentley. With 150 goals from 367 games, he is tied for sixth place all-time in our scoring rankings. He led the team in scoring each of his eight seasons with the club. However, his scoring at the club was sluggish to begin, with just three goals in his first 15 appearances after coming for £11,000 from Newcastle United in January 1948.
Roy didn’t start routinely scoring goals until the following season, when he started to play significantly deeper than other center-forwards at the time, which confused defences. He got the first of his 12 England caps after scoring 23 goals. As captain and a goal scorer, Roy was superb in the Championship victory, scoring 21 goals, including two in a critical 4-3 victory against eventual runners-up Wolverhampton Wanderers and a hat-trick in another 4-3 victory, this one over Newcastle United.
4: Didier Drogba – 164 Goals
Drogba, who scored 104 goals in the Premier League despite leaving Chelsea twice in four years, is still the only African player to reach that milestone. Our iconic No. 11 was capable of scoring almost any sort of goal conceivable and twice won the Golden Boot. The Ivorian’s wonder goal against Liverpool in 2006 served as notice to the rest of the Premier League of his eye for the spectacular, and it is a toss-up between that and his equally audacious half-volley against Everton later that year for his most eye-catching Blues strike, despite the fact that his efforts in the Champions League were perhaps more memorable.
3: Kerry Dixon – 193 Goals
Kerry Dixon developed into one of the most adored players to ever play for Chelsea during the course of nine seasons, from 1983 to 1992. As the squad was being rebuilt after almost being demoted to the Third Division, Kerry arrived from Reading for £175,000 and had an instant impact, scoring twice as the favourites for promotion were defeated 5-0 on the first day. That year, Kerry scored 34 goals as the team won the Second Division championship. Kerry scored 70 goals for Chelsea in just 101 appearances during his debut season in the top division, winning the Golden Boot and gaining a call-up to the England team in the process.
Kerry’s development was however halted by a severe muscular injury in January 1986, and he was never the same player again. In 1988, when the team was gradually disbanded and relegation ensued, he nearly departed the organisation. Ironically, this prompted him to rediscover some of his old success, and Kerry finished the campaign with 25 goals as he repeated as Second Division champion. He scored 26 points for us to finish fifth, our best place since 1970, in the First Division.
2: Bobby Tambling – 202 Goals
Bobby Tambling made his Chelsea debut in February 1959 at the age of 17, netting the opening goal in a 3-2 win over West Ham United. It was the first of his 202 goals, which lasted as the club record for more than 40 years until Frank Lampard broke it in 2013. Tambling made a few more appearances during the following two seasons, usually as a winger, but it wasn’t until Jimmy Greaves left the team in 1961 that his career as a goal scorer really took off.
Despite being demoted, Tambling scored 22 goals in his rookie season. A year later, after scoring 37 goals, he made history by becoming the youngest captain to guide a side to promotion. Bobby kept on scoring easily during the 1960s even though Chelsea appeared to be a serious contender for top honours.
1. Frank Lampard – 211 Goals
Only 10 players—three when you include his goals for West Ham and Man City—have scored more Premier League goals than the Blues’ head coach did while he was a member of the Blues. He scored 147 goals during that period. Before Super Frank came along, a midfielder’s season goal total of double digits was considered respectable; during Lamps’ prime, he frequently reached 20 goals across all competitions. His greatest season, in which he scored 22 goals in the Premier League, came in 2009–10, although most Blues supporters will concur that his most memorable goal was the double strike against Bolton that sealed the 2004–05 Premier League championship, helping him top the list of the Top 10 Chelsea Goalscorers Of All Time.
