Mumbai City FC midfielder Lalengmawia Ralte opened up on his recent two-week training stint in Belgium with Lommel SK. He has emerged as one of the best midfielders in the league and received the opportunity through the City Football Group which owns both clubs. He revealed that the stint in Belgium was a different experience as it exposed him to another level of high-intensity training.
The midfielder will now concentrate on the upcoming Hero ISL season, where he will attempt to aid Mumbai City FC in winning back the Hero ISL championship and the League Winners’ Shield that they previously won in the 2020–21 season.
“The degree of training intensity was different, especially given the type of players they had, who are practically all between the ages of 19 and 21,” Mumbai City FC midfielder Lalengmawia Ralte said after returning from a training stint in Belgium. “Everyone is young and physically fit, and the level of intensity is extremely high. I initially struggled, but after three to four days of training, I was able to manage. You need to think quickly even when training. You don’t have much time.”
“Training with talented young athletes from other nations who had already represented them at a young age was a positive experience. There are several players from LaLiga, a 17-year-old from Hungary, a 19-year-old from Norway, a player from Costa Rica, and many others. They are all skilled athletes,” he added. “The decision to play abroad is entirely up to me. The club cannot push me if I am unable to adjust to other cultural styles. I’ll make an effort to visit a different club. I’m hoping it occurs soon, and when it does, I’ll be prepared. Now that I am aware of what to anticipate, I will be prepared to play in many nations.”
