Napoli striker Victor Osimhen admitted that he would like to test his skills in the Premier League. This season, the 24-year-old has been in explosive form for his club, hitting 19 goals in 21 Serie A games and acting as the trigger for Napoli’s amazing season, which has seen them top the division by 15 points. Such performances have earned him fans all around Europe, with Manchester United among his prospective suitors when the summer transfer window opens. Erik ten Hag’s team has already started preparing for his arrival. Addressing to the press after a 1-0 defeat to Lazio on Friday, Osimhen will have only increased interest from Premier League clubs by stating his ambition to play in the top division.
“Playing in one of the world’s top five leagues is an incredible feeling for me,” Napoli striker Victor Osimhen said. “Many people throughout the world regard the Premier League as the best and strongest league, yet I’m now playing in one of the best leagues in the world, the Italian Serie A. I’m working extremely hard to realize my dream of playing in the Premier League eventually, but like I previously stated, it’s a process, and all I want to do is maintain this momentum and continue to perform well.”
Manchester United is looking for a striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club in December, with loanee Wout Weghorst likely to return to Burnley at the end of the season. Melissa Reddy claims that there is a lot of interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who will enter the final year of his Spurs contract in July, but that Osimhen’s age makes him a better fit for the type of player United is looking for.
The Premier League was interested in Victor Osimhen before he joined Napoli. According to Sky Sports, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea were all keeping tabs on the then Lille forward’s improvement as far back as 2019. He only stayed at Ligue 1 for a year, but an 18-goal season convinced Napoli to pay up to €80 million (£71 million) to move him to Serie A.
