Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has verbally agreed to remain at the club next season. But before it can be claimed for definite that the 75-year-old will remain at Selhurst Park in 2019, a contract must first be ratified. Palace’s management spent their time weighing various possibilities and considering long-term prospects as part of their due diligence. But in the end, the decision was influenced by Hodgson’s relationship with several of the key players for the Palace club. Manchester United’s £55 million offer for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is still on the table, but because of a breakdown in communication, United is now concentrating on Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Adrien Rabiot of Juventus. United are said to be content with their offer for Mount, which was turned down on Friday night, and does not see the need to accept Chelsea’s offer of face-to-face negotiations at this time. Chelsea is willing to meet with United in person to attempt to reach a settlement and has offered a counteroffer of £58m plus £7m in add-ons in return for Mount. However, due to a stalemate in negotiations, United is now refocusing on other targets, one of whom is Brighton midfielder, Caicedo.
