Rangers have completed the signing of Jack Butland on a four-year deal subject to international clearance. Once reaching an agreement on a four-year contract, the 30-year-old, who has nine England caps, will formally transfer to Ibrox on July 1 once his contract with Crystal Palace expires. Butland, who spent this season on loan at Manchester United, will face off against Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie for the position of Rangers’ new No. 1 when Allan McGregor’s contract expires. Manager Michael Beale has already acquired midfielder Kieran Dowell from Norwich and youngster Dujon Sterling from Chelsea.
“I am overjoyed. The club is self-evident. You are familiar with Rangers Football Club regardless of where you play football. I’m thrilled to be here since this is a tremendous chance for me,” Jack Butland said after completing his move to Rangers. “At my age, I feel wonderful and driven, and I’m interested in what the future holds. It meant a lot to me to do it at a team that shares my enthusiasm for success and being at the top. For the club, this summer is crucial, therefore we must start strong. It’s crucial to finish the task ahead of time so that we can return to the office calm and ready to work.”
“I’m thrilled that Jack has joined our team. Our initial encounter made it evident that we have a solid understanding of football and his future development. He has 300 professional football appearances under his belt, including over 90 in the Premier League, and is entering his prime at the age of thirty,” Rangers boss Michael Beale said. “He has also represented England at every level, earning five Olympic appearances for Great Britain and nine senior team caps. I believe we have hired a superb custodian who is also a great individual. We are happy to see Jack and his little family arrive in Glasgow and are eager to watch him succeed while playing for Rangers.”
