Former Crystal manager Patrick Vieira is one of the possible options to take over as the Leeds manager. The former manager of Norwich, Daniel Farke, will meet with the Elland Road management during this week’s planned interviews. Although no contact has yet been made due to his contract with West Brom, Carlos Corberan, the manager of West Brom, has also been suggested in relation to the role. Leeds is back in the Championship after spending three seasons in the Premier League and is without a manager. After failing to save the team from being relegated, Sam Allardyce resigned from his position on June 2. Allardyce had not been a manager since 2021 when he took over for Javi Gracia. Leeds is hopeful that Patrick Vieira can lead them back to the top flight. In the four games he had to keep Leeds in the league, he failed, losing three and drawing one.
Following Allardyce’s departure, the team said that a decision on a replacement head coach “will be made in the coming weeks.” Leeds had previously sacked Jesse Marsch in February after spending more than £140 million on him over the previous two transfer windows when the squad was placed 17th. After that, Gracia, a former Watford manager, was appointed on a “flexible” contract. He only managed Leeds for 11 league games, winning three of them, before the club’s hierarchy again stepped in, with Leeds just barely maintaining their position above the relegation zone on goal differential. Allardyce stepped in to try to keep Leeds in the division through a difficult run of games against Manchester City, Newcastle, West Ham, and Tottenham, but he was unable to turn things around.
In light of the 49ers acquisition, Rickie Fowler exclusively disclosed to that he is considering investing in Leeds United. After lengthy negotiations with owner Andrea Radrizzani, terms were reached last Friday for 49ers Enterprises to purchase the controlling ownership in Leeds. At the US Open in Los Angeles, Fowler said that fellow top player Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth would “potentially” join the club now that the agreement was close to being finalized.
