Manchester United and Brighton are in talks for the transfer of Moises Caicedo. Declan Rice is close to joining Arsenal for £105 million, while Brighton’s current asking price is said to be £100 million. However, it’s believed the price is viewed as a total sum rather than an upfront payment. Due to Caicedo’s age and Premier League proven skill, Brighton believes he should be valued similarly to the West Ham captain, which has caused the asking price to increase recently. Caicedo is only 21 years old. Mason Mount has been the subject of three Chelsea offers that have been turned down as United searches for a replacement central midfielder throughout the current transfer window. Last Friday, United submitted their most recent offer to Chelsea, which was worth £55 million.
This week, the two teams are anticipated to talk once again to decide whether to compromise and finalize the trade. As of now, Erik ten Hag’s side has not shown any desire to increase the value of their first proposal. Moises Caicedo, a native of Ecuador who Manchester United had the option to buy for almost £4 million in January 2021, is viewed as an alternative to Mount even though his price would be far higher. For a number of weeks, Chelsea has been thought of as the player’s top suitor and the club is hoping to finalize a deal.
It is unclear if United will be willing to provide the necessary funding for Caicedo. In a perfect scenario, Ten Hag would also want to bring in a new center-back and a new striker to relieve Marcus Rashford of the goal-scoring duties. In addition, there is a great deal of interest in who will play goal for United in the upcoming campaign, since David de Gea’s position at Old Trafford appears to be in jeopardy. The club had previously promised to extend the Spaniard’s contract, but they later withdrew their offer. Andre Onana, who previously worked under Ten Hag at Ajax before transferring to Milan, might wind up replacing the 32-year-old on a free transfer from Inter.
