Juventus News | Juventus has confirmed the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as their new manager, with Andrea Pirlo’s retirement after only one season in charge clearing the way for him to take over.
On Thursday, Goal heard that a familiar figure was being considered. One who previously led the club to five Serie A titles – was being considered for a second term as manager.
Pirlo had gone through a management baptism of fire. His top-four finish and Coppa Italia triumph were not enough to retain him in a job that would now see Juve turn back the clock.

“Massimiliano Allegri is the Juventus manager once more,” says a statement on the club’s official website.
“Allegri returns to a bench that he knows well. A club that he adores and that adores him back. As a new adventure together, toward new ambitions, begins today. What he accomplished in his first three seasons at Juventus is inscribed in the club’s history. Five Scudetti, four consecutive doubles, the Coppa Italia, and two Super Cups, as well as reaching two Champions League finals in what were epic exploits both in Italy and in Europe.
We bid farewell two years ago with the slogan ‘History Alone.’ On the back of the jersey presented to Massimiliano Allegri by President Andrea Agnelli with an embrace. A jersey, on which Allegri’s tenure at Juve was captured in just two words.
However, the story’s beauty is that it never ends. And in football, this refers to a philosophy that we have imprinted in our DNA: the best victory is the one that comes next. Continually.
And now we’re ready to start again with Allegri, to construct our future together; with his immense professionalism, moral strength, and creative ideas of a coach who can juggle the cards both on and off the field. A kind of signature with his smile. With his simple approach to football and life, his desire to simplify things, and his resolve to savor every lovely moment that being at Juventus can and will provide.”
“Thank you, Andrea,” the Bianconeri had murmured before parting ways with Pirlo. These are the first words that each of us must utter after our shared experience.
Thank you for everything, @Pirlo_official!

“A few months ago, Andrea Pirlo, a global football legend, embarked on a new journey, his first as a coach. To do so, it needs guts, as well as an understanding of one’s capabilities. At a moment defined by thousands of problems, with the world compelled to create its norms day after day by the epidemic. Pirlo has only just begun the initial stages in what will undoubtedly be a spectacular coaching career. An odyssey of change, bringing his ideas and expertise as a champion on the pitch from the ‘other side of the fence and frequently succeeding.
Since victories are what matters in football, let us remember them. Juve has won two titles in a matter of months: the Italian Supercup and the Coppa Italia. From San Siro to Camp Nou, he led his team to stunning wins on the most renowned of fields. Our gratitude goes to Maestro, the Coach, and Andrea, who truly comes from the heart. For all of this, for the courage, devotion, and passion with which he displayed every day. As well as our best wishes for the future, which will undoubtedly be excellent.”
