Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba expressed his feelings on Burnley’s 1-0 victory.
“We know it was a very rough, very tough game today, and we wanted to win. Playing here isn’t an easy game. We got three points, and we’re very pleased with that, but we have a long way to go. And we’re going to focus on completing the season,” the player told the BBC.
“VAR? VAR? It’s difficult [to accept], of course, but you must be professional. Because of the referee’s decision, we knew it wasn’t going to be convenient, which I did not agree with. But on the field, I’m not the boss. We needed to calm down, to focus. We have scored and we have won.
Maguire’s goal was clear, a beautiful goal, and I don’t know what happened. And the referee concluded that it had not happened. It was a weird decision. But we’ve got the outcome we need and we’re satisfied.
You’ve seen the game go in both directions, and it’s very tough to play here. They’ve got a style of play, a very strong squad, and we knew it was going to be hard. We had to remain calm and only concentrate on ourselves and hope that the target would come, and it did. They showed everybody a great game.
When I win, I’m always pleased – we won today and I’m glad we played well. There’s still a long way to go and we’ve got major matches ahead of us, so we have to concentrate on them.”
