After a 3-1 win at the Gewiss Stadium over Napoli, Atalanta qualified for the Coppa Italia Final.
The Naples first leg clash ended with a 0-0 stalemate last week and La Dea will now face Juventus in the final on May 19. Gennaro Gattuso started Victor Osimhen’s Azzurri attack for the first time after 94 days with Lorenzo Insigne and Hirving Lozano completing their attacking trident.
The Azzurri had a promising start, but Atalanta scored with their first shot on goal with a terrific right-foot effort from Duvan Zapata from 27 yards.
Napoli suffered a setback and Matteo Pessina doubled La Dea’s lead at the end of a very well-executed attacking pass. Zapata was assisted by the former Hellas Verona man who finished at the nearest post.
A Lozano goal gave Napoli hope at the beginning of the second half. The Mexican’s first attempt was blocked by Pierluigi Gollini, but the old PSV was the fastest to get to the ball and scored on a rebound.
Atalanta responded with Josip Ilicic and Matteo Pessina, who forced Ospina into a save, but it was the latter man who found the net once again after dribbling past two defenders and chipping the ball over the Napoli goalkeeper.
