GK: Emiliano Martinez – 6/10 – Had nothing to do yet effectively controlled his territory and captured some perilous bridges.
RB: Nahuel Molina – 7/10 – Alvarez once again showed his threat in the final third by having Croatia on their toes and heels prior to his goal.
CB: Cristian Romero – 6/10 – Defended aggressively as usual, but was a little too enthusiastic during the frantic opening. After that, with a 2-0 lead, the game was calmer.
CB: Nicolas Otamendi – 7/10 – Otamendi appeared calm from the start, whereas Romero required some time to cool off.
LB: Nicolas Tagliafico – 6/10 – Pasalic was easily eliminated from the game by accomplishing very little.
RM: Rodrigo De Paul – 6/10 – Was less useless than in previous games, although he still made some strange, errant throws. It didn’t really matter most of the time, and his adaptability was helpful when it came to fast-shifting formation.
CM: Leandro Paredes – 6/10 – Similar to, who made a few overhit passes and had a difficult task against Croatia’s famed midfield trio, did a respectable job.
CM: Enzo Fernandez – 7/10 – On the night, he was Argentina’s finest passer and joined assaults more effectively than his teammates while also charging forward.
LM: Alexis Mac Allister – 7/10 – Picked up shrewd positions in between the lines, but occasionally appeared a little intimidated by the situation.
CF: Lionel Messi – 9/10 – When Messi was initially seen holding his hamstring, supporters might have worried the worst, but he soon rediscovered his rhythm and gave a legendary performance at the Lusail Iconic Stadium. Both when he was running and when he was strolling, Croatia had no idea how to stop him.
CF: Julian Alvarez – 9/10 – He hasn’t yet become a star for Manchester City solely because Erling Haaland is also on the team. Alvarez led the line with an outstanding performance and appears to be the ideal Messi ally.
