Rangers manager Michael Beale believes that there is not an urgent need for players as Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell join the squad. After missing a year due to a knee injury, Hagi will be back in the Rangers lineup for Saturday’s decisive Premiership match against St. Johnstone, and Cantwell just arrived from Norwich. After Swansea rejected an offer for the striker earlier in the month, Beale disclosed that there had been little progress in their pursuit of Morgan Whittaker in recent days. He denied reports that Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin had signed a pre-contract with Rangers and said that Millwall’s Jake Cooper, despite being a former target of Rangers, was “not on my radar.”
“There is a lot of noise surrounding one or two players, which causes many things that may not be true to sprout limbs and legs. All I can say is that we are working behind the scenes,” Rangers manager Michael Beale said. “It’s untrue to say that we have pre-contracts with anyone. Although there are ongoing discussions between the clubs over Raskin, they are not the only parties we are in contact with. We are considering more names outside just these two. If it’s different names or no one at all, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
“When I joined the club, I was aware that this window was about to close, but I was also aware that the club might have targets that didn’t align with my goals or ambitions, and vice versa,” he added. “Todd was captured, and it would be fantastic if we could capture one or two of the names you’re mentioning—or one or two of which you haven’t quite picked up on. If not, I believe our team has the strength to compete until the end of the season. So it’s not like I’ll be distraught if we don’t have another one in by next week.”
