Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa believes that the club massively aids in making a player better. They have spent big in the transfer market and were rewarded by winning the League Winners Shield as well as the Hero Indian Super League title in 2020/21. They also won two games in the AFC Champions League, better than any other club in Indian football history.
“One of the best clubs in India is this one. No matter how many goalkeepers there are, each one is skilled at what they do. We must give every training session our all, and based on the coach’s strategy, only one can be selected,” Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa said. “To earn our place, we must train hard each day. Everyone at the club helps push the other to become a better player. Because of my teammates and coaches, who supported me and helped me improve as a player, I am where I am now.”
“We were able to play a lot of team games in the Durand Cup before to the ISL, which was a very positive experience. We need to strengthen our bonds with one another and get fitter; both of these things will be helpful in the ISL,” he added. “We want to return the ISL Shield and the trophy to the club as a unit. But as we work to achieve that, we also want to uphold our coach’s ideology and use his strategies as effectively as possible in the games. He has been a member of the club for two years. The experience has generally been positive. He is an excellent tactical coach. He talks to each player one-on-one every day in an effort to persuade them to support his ideas.”
