Chelsea manager Graham Potter has revealed that Hakim Ziyech is back in training after his move to Paris Saint-Germain fell through on Deadline Day. Due to Ligue 1’s refusal to approve the move due to the late submission of documentation, Ziyech’s loan agreement failed. PSG filed an appeal with the Legal Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP), claiming that the Stamford Bridge club had submitted the wrong documentation at first after the details of an agreement had been completed. They assert that Chelsea delivered the appropriate documentation twice when it was flagged but without a signature. The deadline had already past when the right version was obtained.
“He has returned home. This morning, he worked out. These are not the first or the last stories of their kind,” Chelsea boss Graham Potter said about Hakim Ziyech. “He is a skilled player and is aware of the circumstances. He has vowed to stick with us and will be in the lineup against Fulham. For the remainder of the season, he will be a crucial member of our team.”
The Blues paid out an astounding £323 million during the January transfer window, breaking the British record by paying £106.8 million for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The Argentine arrived in England on Wednesday but might not make this Friday’s Fulham game.
“To see if he receives the clearance, we must wait and see what happens with the paperwork,” he added. “We required a translator, but we’ll get there. I spoke to him, despite the fact that neither my Spanish nor his English is excellent. He is a remarkable young man. I’m eager to collaborate with him.”
Prior to playing Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the Champions League, Chelsea is only permitted to add three new players; nonetheless, eight players were signed during the transfer window. With a 33-man roster as of right now, the Blues’ ability to preserve unity among the group is in doubt.
“Since only XI may play and only a certain amount of people can be in squads, there will be difficult questions and conversations,” Potter added. “Therefore, it’s important to be as open, sincere, respectful, and truthful as you can. We must foster an atmosphere where you appreciate players who want to play, respect players who want to compete, and respect players who want to support the club.”
