
Days withdrawn from winning the 2019-20 Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich, Vancouver Whitecaps trade Alphonso Davies was named Rookie of the Year in the top flight for Germany.
Davies, 19, has developed as outstanding amongst other youthful possibilities in the world, sparkling for Bayern at left-back. He has featured in 40 matches across all this current season’s rivalries, contributing three goals and nine assists.
The Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Year award joined votes which separated as follows: fans 40%, clubs 30%, specialists 30%. Those in the running were Jonjoe Kenny directly back at FC Schalke, Erling Haaland forward at Borussia Dortmund, 1. FC Koln winger Ismail Jakobs and Borussia Monchengladbach.
The final pool was gathered at various points during the 2019-20 season after each got a Rookie of the Month gesture. Players on Matchday 1 had to be more youthful than 23 to be qualified and in no past campaign had they started a Bundesliga match. Players would not have had the option to play over 450 minutes before the ebb and flow Bundesliga season either.
Davies had marked a Homegrown Player contract with Vancouver in 2016 preceding moving to Bayern. He scored eight goals and dispensed 12 assists through 65 MLS appearances, inciting a $22 million move from the German powerhouse club to come calling.
Davies already has five goals for Canada and eight assists across 17 caps. He is one of Concacaf’s top teams, alongside Jonathan David.
