Alvaro Morata had a few years up and down, breaking out at Juventus, winning a supporting position in the Champions League with Real Madrid, and moving to Chelsea where he was struggling.
Today, he’s playing in Atletico. He has come across some of the hardest defenders in Europe along the way on this path, and in quotes picked up by AS he addressed some of the very best he’s met with: “Chiellini, I don’t know if he’s doing it deliberately, but when he sees me he’s just killing me,” Morata said with a chuckle.
“Sergio Ramos is a tough defender too, even when you’re going against Virgil Van Dijk it seems you’re approaching a wall,” the forward said.
In his time in England Morata had a poor reputation for shirking from the fights against rough central defenders. Given his top-quality heading skills, all too often defenders do get him better physically.
