According to German photographer Paul Ripke, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is “the George Clooney of football,” with the Reds coach ending up in his very own league as far as personality and management abilities.
Ripke, who accompanied the Formula 1 star Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton during their particular championship seasons, rose to fame after taking a series of photos of the now-famous German national team. They won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
His photography career just prospered from that point, taking shots of a portion of the world’s most famous athletes and athletes – one of whom was Klopp after he swapped Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool.
“Jurgen Klopp is too brazen. He’s playing in a league above the Champions League in one way or another in a World Champions League or something. Klopp is Football’s George Clooney, he’s on the same level that Clooney is on with acting,” Ripke said in a selective Target and SPOX meet.
He added: “Her social aptitudes particularly struck me. I thought it was crazy, two days after we were together for five minutes when he messed with me. He recollected what I used to wear, things like that. Obviously, when I was in Liverpool I would not simply like to take exhausting training pictures. I wanted to get an image of Klopp in the road like the Beatles, that would have been much better, yet he didn’t want it.”
