Gary Neville said that Andrew Robertson was playing “like a week on the road” as Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium thrashed Liverpool 4-0.
Phil Foden ‘s clever one-two left a lunging Robertson stranded as the English playmaker capped a brilliant drive against the newly crowned champions to bring City 3-0 up ahead of half-time.
Neville said: “For the last two seasons he’s been outstanding for Liverpool but tonight he ‘s playing like he’s had a week on the lash. This is so different from him. You see that he gets drawn into that room, he just has to hold his nerve, he rushes out, and gets played around. He sees Foden coming, the one-two is brilliant and Pep Guardiola delights in the way he finishes it.”
With the title secured a week ago, there was little on stake for Jurgen Klopp ‘s side, who displayed well away from their normal intensity levels but the defeat, only their second in the league campaign, was an emphatic reminder that City would be desperate to reclaim their crown next season.
