Fernando Santos has agreed on another contract to remain as coach for Portugal until 2024.
The 65-year-old guided Portugal to progress at the League of Nations at Euro 2016 and last year.
Santos, who was appointed to the job in 2014, has also made sure about the most victories from a coach in Portugal’s charge.
President Fernando Gomes told the Portuguese Football Federation’s official site: “This choice was extremely easy as we are reestablishing the contract of a coach who is a European champion.
The Portuguese football federation said Portugal coach Fernando Santos will remain in charge of the national team until the 2024 European Championship.
His deal had been planned to terminate after Euro 2020, inferable from the coronavirus pandemic, however, it was delayed until one year from now.
“This undertaking is a benefit for me and my coaching staff to proceed. We realize we can’t win anything however we’re despite everything going to attempt,” Santos said.
“This was a straightforward choice to make given that we are re-establishing a European Champion deal. He’s a victor,” said Fernando Gomes, leader of the federation.
At the following year’s European Championship, the 2022 World Cup, and Euro 2024, Santos is currently expected to remain in charge of the National team.
